SDARA Futsal
SDARA Futsal is the flagship annual futsal championship held for the alumni of Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak (SDARA). Established in 2004, the tournament brings together former students ("SDARians") spanning over five decades to foster inter-generational brotherhood, physical athletic competition, and alumni networking.
The tournament operates on an unwritten tradition known as the 10-Year Post-SPM Hosting Rule, where the full organizational, logistical, and financial responsibility of hosting each annual edition falls onto the graduating SPM batch that has reached its 10th anniversary since leaving the school.
The upcoming 2026 edition (23rd) is officially hosted by batch Warisan 12'16 at the SLK Sport Center in Batu Caves, taking over leadership from Gemilang 11'15.
2. The 5 Ws of SDARA Futsal
[edit section]SDARA Futsal is the premier annual sports championship reserved exclusively for former students of Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak. It features competitive 5-a-side futsal matches across age brackets ranging from recent SPM graduates to senior alumni over 50 years old.
It serves as an enduring annual reunion anchor. Beyond athletic pride and trophies, the tournament sustains the lifelong "SDARA Brotherhood", providing professional networking, batch bonding, and mentorship between senior and junior generations.
The inaugural tournament took place in 2004. It has been hosted continuously every year, evolving from a small regional gathering into a high-production tournament drawing dozens of batch teams nationwide.
Participation is open strictly to registered SDARA Alumni batches. Players compete within their respective age categories: Lower Open (18–23), Upper Open (24–29), Otai (30–39), Super Otai (40–49), and Legend (50+).
In SDARA tradition, hosting the tournament is not assigned by election; it is a rite of passage. The solemn responsibility of organizing, funding, and managing SDARA Futsal automatically falls onto the SPM batch celebrating their 10th anniversary since leaving school.

Marking their 10th anniversary post-SPM, batch Warisan 12'16 takes over the mantle from Gemilang 11'15. The 2026 tournament relocates to the modern SLK Sport Center in Batu Caves to offer high-traction rubberized flooring and improved amenities.
Group stages will separately feature Lower Open (Ages 18–23) and Upper Open (Ages 24–29) to ensure fair initial matching. All qualifying teams from both divisions then merge in the knockout stage to contend for the unified Open Championship.
